Straw Poll:
Also, we have initiated another (second) Straw Poll on the Senate and House elections. We received e-mails from several bloggers asking how they could change their vote in our first poll. Therefore, as we are much closer to the June 5 election, we are conducting a second poll to see how you are feeling about candidates. If your opinion is the same as when you completed the last poll, please vote again anyway so that we can get a good trend/comparison with the first poll. Mr. Kelly and has family are good contributors to the county. Mr. Townley has also been a great contributor over many years and in many ways. Mr. Townley has the broad experience at the local government level we need in our legislature. Mr. Kelly’s experience in education is good, but today’s problems are far beyond just education. Many of these problems are going to require a hands-on understanding of local government issues that unfortunately not many of our legislators have. Also, who do I think would work best with fellow legislators and local government officials is important. It comes down to a vote on the best between two good people. To me that’s Mr. Townley.

Ditto for me. Kurt Kelly is the ONLY true Christian and real leader we have occupying any elected position in this county. The rest are pretenders, including Dennis Baxley. Kurt will lead the way and is the type of leader we need for the future of our county and our State. I’m sure all the other local elected officials would agree what a great leader and TRUE Christian Kurt is. I can see him going from the State House direct to Governor in the 2010 election. Kurt is without a doubt the smartest, finest man I know. Let’s get him on his way to bigger and better things. All of our politicians should take a lesson from Kurt on how to run our government. Look at his outstanding leadership on the School Board in helping to create the best education system in the Southeastern U.S. We need to look to him as our future!!!

We have all been waiting for someone to tell us what Kurt Kelly has personally contributed during the seven years he as served on the school board. I went right to the best sources and ask his fellow board members, current and past, to give me ONE important contribution they felt Kelly made to improve our school system. Here is the list I got from them:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Not much there! I’ll give you my taxpayer and parent point of view of the Kelly legacy: FCAT scores in the tank; student discipline out of control; parents feeling insecure about children’s safety; students giving each other oral sex in the classrooms; permissive/liberal response to student vandalism and armed robbery; transportation department going down the tubes fast; superintendent and principals who continuously roll over the school board (no wonder Yancey loves Kelly!); bloated administrative payroll; taxpayers spending more and more on education and getting less and less in return; debt increasing (another bond issue); impact fees going up and they will have to go up even more; sales tax will likely have to be continued; no real plan for managing facilities/equipment needs; teacher turnover and replacement planning out of control; poor working relationship with the BCC and other local elected bodies; preaching more than doing; infighting among board members; no respect from at least three fellow board members; self-centered, not a team player—in it for Kelly. I could keep going, but enough for now.
Pray tell, what voter in their right mind would want to put someone in Tallahassee as a legislator who has been on the school board for nearly seven years and is leaving us with the mess and record above? Pounce on Townley all you want about some book in the library (there legally, I might add, to avoid taking the Bible out). But Kurt Kelly sure ain’t what we need...anyone but him!

DITTO-8:53. Kurt is very passionate and loves this community. He grew up here. When he graduated from college, he could have gone anywhere- Ocala was home and he came back to start his life here. People who know him respect and love him as well as his family. He wife teaches school- education is very important to him. He cares about the future of our state- he has two teenagers that he loves dearly. His parents are senior adults and live here too. I had Mrs. Kelly(Kurt's mother) in the 7th grade at Ft. King years ago. Kurt is very committed to making care of the generation that raised him, taught him the value of hard work, respecting others and loving and living for God. This blog needs to address issue and stop personal attacks on people they don't even know.

Reading from Mr. Kelly’s web site:
“Today, Marion County is recognized as an “A” school district.”
Any credit for this goes not to any School Board member or to the school board as a body. It goes to Deputy Superintendent Diana Greene and the hundreds and hundreds of teachers who, in spite of the school board, have used their commitment to the classroom and have tried to teach to the test, and, in large measure, it has worked. We had little leadership for so long, that it took someone with the commitment of Diana her work ethic, and the confidence teachers have in working with her. Most teachers have little or no contact with any school board member, and they do not like sermons to be preached to them in front of a TV camera.
“Kurt led in establishing MTI, a nationally recognized vocational/technical high school.”
This is simply untrue. Mr. Herring had been working hard to get vocational education expanded into a technical-type school for some time before Mr. Kelly was first appointed to the Board, and Mrs. Mosley (elected at the same time Mr. Kelly was first being elected) was pushing vocational education as one of her platform planks. We did not hear a word from Mr. Kelly in his campaign to be elected the first time.
“He also introduced a district-wide abstinence program, which promotes traditional family values.”
Actually, he followed Mrs. Mosley on this one too. The fact he talks the longest and loudest does not mean he brings forth an issue.

Yeah, I think we can agree all (well most of us that are intelligent anyway) that the candidates are:
Good Christian Men, Married, Not Gay, Strong on Family Values, Anti-Abortion, Pro-Gun, Conservative, Local, etc.
But what makes them different? McDonald's doesn't compete against Burger King by saying "hey-we sell hamburgers". Well, duh. A Republican is being redundant in this race if he just tells us he is a good person and comes from a good family.
Where's the differentiation?
Where's the substance?
Where are the solutions?
Or do those things just not matter?

If the write in candidate (Nancy Stacy) was from a political party other than Republican, it would not have looked as suspicious. Feeling there would be last minute game playing, I did the unthinkable. I changed my voter registration a month ago. The Republicans really don’t look very confident or honest when they have to use a devious tactic like a write in to try to win. Don’t trust, just switch. The new motto for many of us.

All the discussion about Mr. Townley and the two controversial library books is ridiculous, based on the facts I have obtained. One of the books (Eat Me) is an adult book and available only to adults for check out. The other book (Perfectly Normal), and the first one in dispute, is in a restricted area of the library and can’t be checked without parental permission. I don’t like either of these books, but I wouldn’t want to jeopardize having to remove the Bible from the library because these two books are removed. I have two kids and I’ll control what they read or don’t. I don’t need the local government telling me what my kids should or should not read.
If you want to discuss smut and books, take a visit to some of our School libraries some time. I have seen several books that I question even having in a School library. What about some of the School counselors who have copies of Perfectly Normal “hidden away” for use with students? Also, where is Mr. Kelly on taking steps to assure parents that our School libraries are clean of any smut? Before people (including the Kelly mouthpieces on the blog) start casting stones at Mr. Townley about a couple of books that parents can control access to, how about the School system and Mr. Kelly cleaning up our School libraries?
I haven’t been on the blog in a few weeks, but someone has taken the books issue in the completely wrong direction. I’m more concerned about the Schools than our public libraries.

All of the problems we have in Marion County can definitely be blamed on Parnell Townley. Not enough schools, not enough busses, bad roads, over crowded roads, jail space, trash, Supervision of Elections Office not big enough, water shortage, increased taxes to support this runaway growth train and on and on. Yes it was Parnell. SO you think I am exaggerating? When he was a County Commissioner 1988-1992 & 1996-2004 he voted for land use changes that unleashed all the uncontrolled growth and all of the attendant problems that we have with it. It was his sweet deals for his buddies that created the present nightmare of property taxes. Even if the current County Commission did not vote for one more land use change, we have years of platted homes as a result of land use changes that Townley appproved. He did so with careless disregard for the lack of infrastructure to support it, the effect it would have on the current taxpayers, and the quality of life here in Marion County. He was just one of the good ole boys that could not care less.
By the way Parnell how is that land development deal your in on going?????

HOLY COW!!!
For years I've been told that Randy Harris was responsible for all the County's ills, the Iraq war, 9/11, New Orleans disaster, etc.
Now you're telling me it's Parnell. I'm shocked.
The real problem is a failure by some of our elected officials to accept responsiblility for decisions and blame each other. A great trait of many Republicans, including Mr. Kelly about our p... poor education system.
I'm going to vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE.

You know - i just want to make a point. "Mini-me" Baxley is the ONLY candidate who i have seen hitting the streets, knocking doors, and working hard. I have yet to see any signs of kelly or townley knocking doors. All i see or hear is their obnoxious push-poll phone calls, and them showing up at community events for half an hour before they have to take off. How about some effort, candidates? Good job, Damon - bloggers can say all they want to about your youth, but you seem be out-working anyone else!

Heard SDhaw on Chip Morris and PC yesterday - he's in a different league that the others. He is an idealog like Newt Gingrich, he is the only guy in the race coming up with original thoughts. KK must sit around all night memorizing George Bush speeches because it sounds like the same weak double talk. Shaw has great ideas and reasons for those ideas. Plus, he is the only one with the intelect to take on issues like reigning-in the Supreme Court. He has a great plan for illegal immigration whereas KK and the other old school Republicans on life support keep giving that same, "We can't do anything - it's the federal government's problem whine." Shaw's getting his message out, his signs out, and starting to really put the nails into some coffins.

Blogmaster: you did not include any quotes from PWF or Nancy Stacey!!!
I surf several blogs and web sites all over the State. I have never seen so many posts (400) on a single discussion thread in such a short time! You Marion County folks are really into the district #24 race! What’s your problem with the Senate race? Looks like no one is really interested.
Why didn't you include the comment by one of the Kelly people that called the officers of the Ocala Police Department a bunch of "WEANIES"?
Too disgusting or are you one of the Kelly supporters and want to cover up for him?
We'll see who's a weeny come June 5.
Blog Master--Since you changed to the new Google sign in system, I have lost my blogger name to sign in. I sent you an e-mail but haven't heard back. Help!
That first set of comments does a good job in spelling out why I will vote for Parnell Townley.
Damon Baxley wins in a blow out. Kelly, Townley distant close 2nd, 3rd.
You had better attend evening services and pray hard for that to happen! As a matter of fact, you better go each evening all week to ask for that kind of miracle.
One question? Had the police left those dangerous "frisbee criminals" to their parents to deal with who had not done a penny's worth of damage like previous OPD Chief's have done and officers gotten their fannies back on the streets they could have caught the kids truly VANDALIZING Forest High that same night? OR, maybe they it is safer to arrest kids with dangerous frisbees??
Where's the differentiation?
Townley- Member of a County Commission that unleashed such uncontrolled growth that we, the present property owners are having to pay dearly for. Can't even run a campaign with out resorting to unethical and illegal “re-elect” campaign literature. Not sure if we did read his literature that we would be reading his words, those of PWF or any one of his many liberal handlers. Mr.Townley readily admitted that he did not “read and approve” his material. What his literature does say is “past” or “former” 7 of the 8 times with the 8th beng “honorary” in community and business leader references. Summary: This candidate’s get up and go has got up and went. Can’t be counted on to pay attention to the details.
Shaw- Who knows him? He and his Trial Lawyer friends in Tallahassee hope the other candidates bludgeon each other so Shaw can just quietly walk away with this election. Just what we need in Tallahassee is yet another lawyer. A person with a lifelong communicable infectious disease in quarantine has contributed more and done more for this community than this guy. Summary- Shaw who?
Kelly- A well educated mature Christian family man. A fiscal conservative with moral and ethical standards above reproach. His commitment and dedication to this community weather it be ministry, coaching football, or public service has been demonstrated. He has experience in creating and interpreting complex legislative language. He is a strong believer in personal accountability and consequences for actions. He is tough on crime. Summary- Mature, qualified, prepared and ready to serve. Stands head and shoulders above the rest of the candidates as the best qualified.
Damon Baxley- A young 26 year old Christian man. A family man with a nice wife and young family. Has a good group of energetic youth working hard to get one of their own generation elected. For that past few years has protected and served the residents of Marion County. Not long on life experience, community involvement, or education. Summary- A seed that some might some day grow into a tree.
Reading the crap about Kelly and I had to go in the bathroom and throw up! And it was a good Sunday lunch I just discarded.
Sounds like all those untrue statements on his mailers.
"City Guy" has it just right in his highlight comment above. Townley is head and shoulders above Kelly and with much more integrity. I have made up my mind, as have many others.
OH! I just noted: KELLY TOUGH ON CRIME! Tell that to local law enforcement!
Whew, I just threw up again.
I just filled out the straw poll. Looks to me some of you folks on the blog better be worried about Steve Shaw. He may be the dark horse that blows all of the candidates away. Maybe voters are tired of the same old, same old and people like young Damon and Steve may be just what the doctor ordered.
Damon is my guy!
2:58- Get your barf bag ready!
Go Kurt!
10:21-
If Damon wins; it's only because of daddy's name. That was an interesting scheme to get the voters confused with the name.
Now- that is sure not the most qualified. HE DOESN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO HANDLE STATE ISSUES.
Nor does Mr. Kelly have the experience to handle state issues. The guy can't even handle local school issues.
I'll go with youth, Damon is a fast learner and with Dad in the Senate and support from his fellow legislators, he'll do fine. I'm sure Damon will be much more pleasant a personality for them to work with than would the doughboy!
Where is the differentiation.
Your smear of candidate Shaw is pure gutter snipe politics.
I guess we should not be surprised.
When you don't have a platform or position papers and you are behind in polling, what else can a desperate candidate do, but smear. Can't blame a guy for trying can you?
And here is the beauty of it all. You are anonymous, no accountibility needed. Just smear away.
Not a very Christian thing to do where I come from.
Again I request that the blogmaster require names, only on election matters, just as is required all the time by newspapers on opinions stated on "letters to the editors ".
Clayton Ellsworth
"Dad in the Senate and support from his fellow legislators..."
Will that support come before or after they play all those hazing pranks on the kid from Marion?
Clayton Moore
Will someone please explain to me how being a "Christian" qualifies a person for political office. I missed that in Government 101 as well as the numerous campaigns I worked in over the years.
As a matter of fact all the campaigns I ran, I refused to let candidates put their religion on anything but bios for newspapers and League of Women's Voters etc.
We are not voting for a person to lead a Christian Crusade from the 54th district to Tallahassee.
We are not voting for a church officer or a Pope.
But who would know that when reading this thread or the previous one on District 24.
Clayton Ellsworth
www.damonbaxley.com
Clayton E.
Good point. A candidate of Jewish or Catholic faith is at a disadvantage in any election here.
Nancy, the vandalism was done at Belleview not Forest. MCSO jurisdiction not OPD. Forest is also in the county.
Clayton Ellsworth (if thats his name)says,
"As a matter of fact all the campaigns I ran, I refused to let candidates put their religion on anything"
Mr Ellsworth if your candidates allowed you to disassociate them from their beliefs, and they won then it is no wonder we are in such a mess.

If this were the FCAT, you would be held back at least one year. In political terms, it likely means your candidate will be held back from any political progress this year.
Shaw is the most experienced and capable guy in this race hands-down. He is the only guy who has gone through the rigors of a trial; he is the only guy who has fought insurance companies; he is the only guy who has helped seniors who have been ripped-off by scams. Plus, he was on Congressman Stearns staff as a paid staffer. It looks like KK was just some volunteer coffee-boy in Tallahassee - Pornell was a county commissioner but he was just (as the communists say) a useful idiot for the Randy Harris fiefdom (while it existed). Baxley goes to the GOP website every night and studies "important" figures like, "there are almost 20 million people in Florida" and then repeats such important stats on radio shows to try to sound informed. The best deal for Shaw is that he doesn't have that Nancy baffoon saddled firmly on his back. She would sink even Ronald Reagan in this po-dunk race. She's about as useful to her boy KK as a water-logged life vest.
So being a lawyer who has gone through a trial equates to the necessary experience to be a representative now? please.
Shaw's legal experience is in addition to his experience on Congressman Stearns' staff. We all learned the legislative process on those Saturday morning "conjunction junction what's your function" cartoons. Everyone know's how the legislative process works. Fighting real insurance companies and real scam artists is much more difficult. I'd rather have a guy go up to Tallahassee who knows how to fight those guys (and who can't wait to fight those guys) than the go-along-to-get-along KKs, PTs, and Baby Baxley career politicians. Listen to Shaw, he is the only one who is a maverick on any issue.
So shaw is a maverick? No, he's an ambulance chaser. THAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE WE DON'T NEED IN TALLY.
OH-- BY THE WAY- SHAW DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE A FIGHTER.
Someone keeps calling Shaw a "trial Lawyer." What does that mean? Most lawyers are in court for some reason or another. I don't see Shaw advertising as an ambulance chaser. He's not doing medical malpractice. He doesn't have those Viox class action scams. If someelderly person has been taken for $5,000 for a hearing aid, is it wrong that Shaw takes the filthy bum scam artist to court. I heard papa Baxley talking about the "trial lawyers" smearing him. "Trial lawyers" is a term of art created by candidates who need a "boogie man" to scare voters into voting for them. The funeral business gives me many more heebeegeebees than does the boogie man or "Trial Lawyers."
Amen. Keep the trial lawyers out of the House & Senate chambers
I spoke to a friend today who told me that her church was praying for Kurt. Imagine this- it is a catholic church. Hey- so much for the lie that Kurt is against catolics.Kurt Is not anti- catolic. That is fabricated as well as other untruth running thru this blog.
Correction for 11:15--
catholic was mispelled earlier.
So, a new tale about a church praying for one candidate. All four are Christians so why wouldn't the church pray for all four? Thankfully God loves all four equally - are the other three Christians "boogie men?"
What has Shaw done for this community?
When asked publicly Shaw could not even remember when he worked for Sterns. What exactly did he do?
When did he do it?
So how many cases has Shaw tried? and what type?
Clayton Moore
I wouldn't vote for Kelly for dog catcher! About the only thing I would vote for him for would be cry baby of the year. He's got a bunch of goons on here trying to bully people around. Who is this guy Rosie O'Donald?
There are untruths on this blog Leslie and many have been posted by you and others supporting Kurt Kelly. He claims that law enforcement is behind him--not so. That he never made a statement about Catholics on Bobby D's show--not so. That he was supoened to appear to testify for the vandal students--not so. And you expect us to believe a fabrication about someone praying for him, like he is the only Christian running. What a ridiculous thing to say! I'm praying too, that he is not elected.
I heard Shaw the other night say that he went back to the records to see exactly when he worked for Stearns - he had difficulty answering that question off of the cuff because, on a congressional staff, you often go off of the congressional side during elections and go full-time on the capaign side - he also worked for a spell and then went back to college and then resumed after that.
He has served as an attorney and, yes, that is service. Go hang-out in an attorney's office for a day and tell them that they are not hard workers. He also was an adjunct professor at CFCC - not handly a gravy-train job. He volunteered for justice teaching in high schools and other efforts.
There are just some on this blog who have their minds made up already - reason cannot overcome credulity.
Oh sorry, I thought I read Forest on the blog where the other vandals were but it doesn't matter enough to me to go back and read thru all the mess to see. I know the old Forest was in town but is the new Forest High not in the City anymore?? I know they move lines hourly if need be.
Nancy
A choice between a Mama's boy and a Daddy's boy and I'm going with Damon. At least Damon will get better advice in the legislature from someone who knows what's happening.
Doughboy's political days are numbered and it will be a Baxley who brings him down.
So let me understand. Your guy Shaw equates service to the community as being a lawyer?
and being paid as an adjunct Professor?
"He volunteered for justice teaching in high schools and other efforts."
Why don't you add he saw a piece of trash on the sidewalk one day picked it up and threw it away while your at it?
That's it for all the years he has been in this community?????? good grief!
The dodge on the number and type of trials question has been noted.
To the other Clayton, Clayton Moore:
Yes my name is Clayton Ellsworth.
You misquoted me. Candidates were permited to list religious affiliations on bios as I stated, and why not ?

Among the twelve posts above selected as worthy of repeating from hundreds in other threads on the District 24 race is one related to the library. I count four to five factual errors in the first three sentences of that post, depending on how readers might interpret one ambiguous phrase.
Those of us involved with this “issue” for years are well familiar with its use in intramural Republican slug fests. As someone once said, in war, truth is the first casualty.
I repeat my caution to anyone relying on supposed facts on the Politically Homeless blog about the library. Anyone with a serious interest wanting facts can contact me per the offer I made on the House District #24: “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!” thread at 10:23 PM on May 20.
The following has nothing to do with the District 24 race but neither should most of the other nonsense in here on the library, and at least this is factual.
On November 13, 2003, the Concord Monitor reported twelve well-known citizens in the town of Sanbornton in “Live Free or Die” New Hampshire took their state motto to its limit by posing nude for a calendar to raise money to renovate Sanbornton’s 100-year-old library which, among other things, was in need of its first working toilet.
Called “Sanbornton Naturally,” the calendar was set to go on sale in a variety of local businesses, including a lumber store, an auto dealer, a jeweler, a hair salon, a locksmith, and a print shop. Copies could also be purchased at a craft fair for Sanbornton’s historical society.
The calendar was produced without the knowledge of library trustees. "We did not want to cast a shadow of impropriety on the library," said Miss February, Doris Nisbet, who posed in a wing-back chair with a book in a strategic place. Martha Bodwell posed in a hat and scarf and nothing else. Okie Howe, a woman in her 80s, sat on her front porch with an oversized sun hat and a pot of flowers.
Demonstrating the dedication and community spirit of the participants, the Monitor reported that much of the photography took place on chilly fall mornings. Gordon Craig, the owner of Denbrae Golf Course, posed with a golf bag at the 6th hole of his course at 6:30 a.m. Mary Boudreau rode through a field on horseback with nothing on but her shoes; Johanna Gelinas sat on a bench at the edge of Lake Winnisquam in 45-degree weather.
Here’s an excerpt from an e-mail titled “Buff for Bucks” that I sent to pwf (Paul Ferguson) at the time of this 2003 fundraiser along with the full Concord Monitor news article.
“Given your declared support for the public library and desire to keep down the tax burden on the people of Marion County, I'd think you would want to take the lead in Marion County on a project like the one described below! Perhaps you could recruit members of the local Republican leadership to pitch in. I don't feel I'm well enough known to participate, but I'd be happy to loan you a sun hat or small book :-)”
Sadly, pwf has not followed through on this idea for reducing our tax burden. Fiscal conservatism has its limits, you know.
11:43- Tis the truth. Sorry you can't receive that fact that catholics are praying for Kurt. Now you are playing god acting as if you can read minds. I was very excited to hear this from my catholic friend."HER CATHOLIC CHURCH IS PRAYING FOR KURT".
AGAIN, THIS EXPOSES THE MISINFORMATION ABOUT THE CATHOLIC STATEMENT- God knowS you are lying.
Check you facts- Kurt has some catholics in his family. So before you continue shotting off your mouth, YOU BETTER GET THE FACT STRAIGHTS.
Earlier blog attacked Kurt for allowing bible groups after school.I did my research.
It is a Supreme Court Lamb's Chapel decision. Public schools may allow their facilities to be used for before or after schools activities to include Bible groups along as they are not disruptive.
So in accordance of the law, KURT DID WHAT WAS RIGHT. HE IS A FELLOWER OF THE LAW NOT ONE WHO HAS KNOW DISREGARD FOR IT.
Here again, this is an example of some intentional misinformation. It appears that the mistruths and lies about Kelly are starting to unravel others at the seams.
Oh great know it all Creekbaum. What are the factual errors in the post your refer to?
Folks, factual error to Creekbaum has always been anything that does not agree with his point of view. So I suggest you take lightly his offer to provide "facts" about the library. Julie Sieg, Library Director, is probably the best source of facts. I wouldn't trust anything Creekbaum tells me about the library.
Correction-
Referring to 8:00 per Kurt-
HE IS A FOLLOWER OF THE LAW NOT ONE WHO HAS NO DISREGARD FOR IT.
I had it get that right.
Leslie and Mary, SAME person? I think so.
Leslie, don't get your underwear in such a knot about Kurt and the Catholics. He has spread enough misinformation about himself and his "record" that no one really cares much about what he thinks about Catholics. There are too many other issues to ding him on!
Is this about the library and the porn issue? Is this where townley would not take a stand against porn in the library in 2004?
I new to the blog would like for someone to expose the facts.

Excuse you!
My name is leslie not Mary. Again, you are playing god?
Kurt will stand on his record. I want him to know that there are many faiths praying and voting for him.
Hey- mary- says like you and I would get along great. It is nice to know that there are other prayer warriors in this spiritual battle. GO KURT!
Mary/Leslie:
Doesn't really matter, many of us are praying for the real spiritual leaders in this community--Dennis and Damon Baxley. Sorry Kurtie, you are taking third or fourth place in this so-called spiritual battle. And you always have and always will. People know true religious leaders when they see them.
P.S.: Wasn't Bryan Creekbaum the guy who lead the charge to have porno in our county libraries. How could he have an objective point of view on the issue?
Anybody know when Damon's on the radio?
Why don’t some of you spiritual warriors chill out, take a break and go to a Memorial Day celebration. Enough about self-serving politicians like Kurt Kelly et al. I’m off to the Veterans Park. Why not join me? It might be good for your spirit and political soul.
8:24-
Seems like you have allot of anger going on.
God know each man's heart and intentions. Someone said it earlier, that win or lose, that if they know the Lord, their future is secure in Christ. AMEN!
I'm for Kurt because he is that man standing for strong Christian family value. I know him from church. Watching this blog makes it that more real. I see the continue verbal attacks and smearing goin on against Kurt- he must be doing something right.
Kurt continue to be in the world but not of it. God will honor you for it.
Blog master- word is getting out about this blog. This is a good thing. Someone needs to hold you all responsible for the irresponsible comments.
If you want to know how many trials Shaw has had, why don't you ask him an not some blogger who sits around ordering Dominoes and 2 liter bottles of Cokes? What am I, his secretary? Shaw has experience on Congressman Stearns' staff as a real paid employee serving the people of Marion County. He also has served as attorney for hundreds of Marion families and the volunteer things noted. Again, that will never be enough for one or two bloggers here who will not give credit to Shaw for anything and who will keep throwing out the "Lawyer" boogie man. The Florida Senate leader was a building contractor, the people of his district thought that was real service to his community and elected him and keep electing him. Randy Harris, before becoming an abnoxious tyrant, was a plumber - was that not service to the community? Lawyer is certainly service to the public and perfect experience for a legislator.
8:51- I may do just that. Only problem- I don't know your name. You know mine.
Happy Memorial Day. Let us remember the ones who died to allow us this freedom to live in USA and even to get on this blog.
FOR THE FREEDOM TO VOTE.
As we take the day to reflect, pray for the ones in serve now who are fighting for us this very moment.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I like that thought about going to the Veterans Day - the Star Banner never gave the times for the celebrations - can anyone give the time for the Veterans Park (Ocala) one and the Spruce Creek one?
Back to the discussion, can anyone explain Leslie's point about KK being a Christian. News flash - they are ALL Christians in this race. It is not an issue that separates the candidates. Please stop trying to say that any one of the candidates is MORE of a Christian than any of the others.
9:03- Don't try the put words in my mouth! I didn't say anything about the other candidates not being Christian. Get the fact right- I'm not saying that one is more Christ like than the other.
I can ONLY speak on behalf of and for KURT. He is a fine Christian. I have seen him live being a Christian thru the past years. I'm glad the others are Christians.
As a Christian,I will stand for those who live by biblical principles. It is important to me. I KNOW KURT. As for me and my household, we will support and vote for KURT.
Veteran's Park 10:00 am, God Bless America and all those who served to protect our freedom and way of life.
damon is on the radio today at 4 with chip and pc, tomorrow on 1370 for the candidate forum, and later in the week with bobby d.
Only the candidates know in their hearts/mind if they are "Christians". It is so easy to be one and I have given you John 3:16 which shows you nothing has to be done except to believe. All I can vote by is which candidates I KNOW who's ACTIONS demonstrate their belief as I can't judge what is inside them.
That is God's job. One supporter of Kurt's named "Brenda" told me yesterday that she is for Kurt because she knows an elem school principal where the after school bible study is held and he has seen extreme discipline problem children turn their lives around after attending Good News bible study classes. She knows that Kurt was so instrumental in quietly assisting in the expansion of that. I told her that I believe Damon would likewise do what he could in Tallahasse to recommend (not mandate) that program as Kurt would and I hope I didn't speak out of turn for Damon? I believe both men walk the walk of their belief and would walk that walk in Tallahassee. To be fair, I haven't mentioned Steve Shaw and where I personally believe he would stand only because I do not know him. I believe Parnell's voting record on the County Commission regarding material he believes should be at the hands of children showed the walk he has already walked which is so unacceptable but maybe in Tallahasse he would change his path??? If he is elected we can only hope he will. Regardless, the man elected will have a year to demonstrate the path he walks while representing us and will face us all again very soon for permission to continue in his seat or not. That is why it is SOOOO important that only Republicans make that choice. Mrs. L. wrote in letters to the editor "Moderate Republicans could have used the Democrat's help" so right wingers wouldn't win. LOL!! They just don't get it! If they helped us then our party would be losing like them. Okay Republicans think of this.....the Dems may have wanted to skew our race by voting the WEAKEST Republican in the group so they could come back in a year and beat him with their Dem. If they voted for the LEAST conservative in the group they knew Republicans would be eating him up within a year and they would come in and slay us in 2008.
Why stop here?? Just let them choose our Presidential candidate too. Ugh..... The letter to the editor titled "Stacy stunt" this weekend was a hoot. She said it wasn't right she had no one to vote for so she should get to vote with us??? Well, her candidate couldn't find parking for goodness sake to file with 50 parking spaces across the street where I easily parked!!! Her mindset reminds me of the child who's mother packs him his school lunch that included a desert. Then, another child's mother didn't put a desert in her child's lunch box so the teacher MADE the first child divide his desert with his buddy. You know, take from those who have to give to those who have not. Isn't that the Democrat's way since Rosevelt??? What is scary is people like that lady TRULY believe they deserve to have what we as Republicans have without hitting a lick at a snake to get it??? I rest my case! LOL
Nancy
Kelly has family members who are Catholic. That's really great to know! How about African Americans, Jews and gays?
By the way, my best friend is an African American. Am I a better person? We even have two gays in our family. Am I a better person.
You people are getting disgusting in trying to rationalize Kelly's actions through religious posturing.
Nancy Stacy---
Why do you keep reading the Star Banner and the Homeless Blog? I thought you said they are both only for the use of liberals. Maybe there are many readers out there who pay attention to both and that just scares the fire out of you and others! Especially since the sources for pushing the right wing agenda are becoming fewer and fewer.
www.damonbaxley.com
Nancy,
I again urge you to read Matthew 7. Many will cry out lord, lord, but he may say I never knew you. Crying out and believing is not enough. He will know you by your works - it is the word of God. Don't lose your immortal soul by hearing only half the message.
Shaw was on Bobbie D a few weeks ago and he is strong pro-life and pro-family. He's actually the only guy sticking his neck out about the issues. Also, he would have done a better job of handling that library book issue.iptuekrf
Mr. Anonymous,
You are right about one thing...."crying out is not enough to get into heaven" BUT you are wrong about the other part. "Believing" is enough to get you there. If works were required, then why did the thief on the cross go to heaven???
Answer: He BELIEVED!!!! "Works" to get to heaven ended with the birth of Christ. Now, Christians walking the walk will try and be "Christ like" BUT Christ pitched some pretty big fits with people that he didn't agree with their actions during his walk on this earth. Now the religions who do NOT recognize Jesus as the savior still do believe in "works" to get to heaven to live eternally with God. Sorry, but Mr. Anonymous needed a crash course on Christianity.
If Steve Shaw is as some of the other writers say he is then even if he doesn't make winner of this election I bet he has a future in politics here. We just all need to get to know him.
After this election is over I hope some of you all will head over to the Blogmaster's other threads regarding things happening politically within the community. Hopefully we can all be more serious there because this blog combined with a handful of activists could set the County Commission/City Council on its ear if they vote wrong. Unfortunately people seem to go away when it is time to do the REAL work. John Lund needs some help down at the County. He has spoon fed us for years and now with the help of this blog we could organize like has never happened in County government. This blog would become Government's WORSE nightmare. For those who believe you can trust the government I say "right, just go ask an indian".
Nancy
Mr. Anonymous,
Write this date down....remember it well...it is the day I was finally wrong. LOL!!! This blog is not a bunch a liberals so I WAS WRONG. It just seemed like it since I was being attacked, my family attacked, etc. like mad the first few days. Now I know it was just 2 or 3 FOOLS. The rest of the people are just as WISE as me. Ha!
Regarding the newspaper? Oh no I don't read the paper except when they are directly attacking me. I want to know whether what they say is liable or not. That's all! I believe anything Brad Rogers the editor writes is pure lies although the tactic "a little truth helps lies go down" is his specialty in my opinion. BUT, this blog is handling Mr Bradley quite well! This blog may become more widely read than his column and you can tell him...I have a plan! LOL! Have a nice day.

Finally found Kelly's website, thanks to the good liberals at the Star Banner:
www.electkurtkelly.com
Another basic, mostly useless brochure-style website.
Nancy, speaking of Brad Rogers. You know your boy Kelly and Brad are pretty tight. The Star-Banner doesn’t do endorsements anymore, but I would not be surprised to see Brad in his next Sunday column do a bit of a “wink and nod” in favor of Kelly.
You have always been a staunch critic of the liberals, especially Brad, so maybe you better be cautious with Kelly---you are(become) the friends you keep. Perhaps you, and other Republicans, don’t know him as well as you thought.
Also, is Kelly’s wife a teacher or a banker? Seems his campaign people don’t know. I have seen her occupation both ways. Guess it depends on who he is appealing to.
Suggested official hymn of the Marion County Republican Party :
ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
Marching as to war with the cross of Jesus going on as before.
Christ, the royal Master leads against the foe; forward into battle see his banners go.
AS the grandson of missionaries who died in India "of desease", an ordainained Presbyterian Elder, a believer of the two party system, an opponent of hypocracy and bigotry, a believer of accountability in all that we do; I find the constant use, or maybe I should say misuse, of the word Christian in this race, quotations of the Bible to attack other "Christians " and personal attacks to be hypocrytic to the extreme and begoted almost beyond my comprehension. [Note I was in Mississippi in 1964]
And I am to understand this is the best of the Republican Party in Marion County. You bet !

You can contact Marion County Public Library System Director Julie Sieg directly at 352-368-4505 or at Julie.Sieg@marioncountyfl.org. She’ll give you accurate facts to the extent you know exactly what questions to ask her.
Anyone receiving a response from me relative to my offer on the Politically Homeless blog is welcome to forward it to Julie and ask her to reply with any factual inaccuracies. I would copy it to her myself but that would make it public record, so I’ll leave it up to the recipient as to whether they want my response to them and their name to become public record.
While posts on the Politically Homeless blog are riddled with factual errors about the library, one important question has been raised: What happened with the public library after Parnell Townley left the county commission?
You can read the current library service policies, including the collection development policy and circulation policy, in their entirety at http://www.marioncountyfl.org/library/LI_Service_Policy.htm but that won’t tell you anything about their implementation status. For example, Policy #10 – Restricted Access Designation has never been applied to any material in the collection of the Marion County Public Library System, and, in my estimation, never will be. These polices were approved on a 4-1 county commission vote with Kesselring dissenting (Harris, McClain, Payton, and Stone voted “for”). Kesselring publicly stated he dissented because he was unwilling to vote for Policy #10.
In early 2005, I became a strong public proponent of direct county commission involvement in library policymaking and appeal of library director decisions on questioned library material. You can bet that I’m monitoring what our “new library board” composed of the county commissioners is doing, including what they are putting in the library. It’s very important that politicians have their actual performance measured against their promises and claimed accomplishments and that the public, especially parents, have accurate information about their public library. I intend to make sure that happens.
The hyperlink to the library service policies doesn’t seem to have posted above correctly. You can find the policies by going to the county commission homepage at
http://www.marion
countyfl.org/ and clicking on “Library” on the right hand side to get to the library homepage and then clicking on “Library Policies" on the left hand side to get to a listing of the policies which can be selected and viewed one at a time as pdf files.
Thanks Brian. You are very correct. Nothing has changed in our Library since all the hoop la raised by Harris a few years ago. Typical political rhetoric by him and others. Speak loudly and do nothing! All the controversial books are still there and why haven't the existing group of commissioners removed them. Because they don't want any personal law suits. Much noise and no action---the mantra of our current local political system.
This guy Steve Shaw is making sense. I'm going to take a bit of a flyer and vote for him. He will be a short time representative, so can always replace him in 2008 if he doesn't get it done for us.
Nancy,
You need to re-read the Bible. You are heading on a path to hell. I hope you take this seriously. I'm concerned about you. Re-read Matthew 7. Read the word of God. The devil believes Jesus is the son of God, no, the devil knows Jesus is the son of God. With you current understanding of the Bible the devil is in heaven too. I beg you to re-read the Gospels before it is too late.
Nancy,
Show me where in the Bible does it teach that we are saved by “faith alone.” You can’t, because it doesn’t. The only place in all of Scripture where the phrase “Faith Alone” appears, is in James...James 2:24, where it says that we are not...not...justified (or saved) by faith alone.
So, one of the two main pillars of Protestantism...the doctrine of salvation by faith alone...not only doesn’t appear in the Bible, but the Bible actually says the exact opposite - that we are not saved by faith alone
I ask you that if works have nothing to do with our salvation...then how come every passage in the N.T. that I know of that talks about judgment says we will be judged by our works, not by whether or not we have faith alone? We see this in Rom 2, Matthew 15 and 16, 1 Ptr 1, Rev 20 and 22, 2 Cor 5, and many, many more verses.
Also, I ask you that if we are saved by faith alone, why does 1 Cor 13:13 say that love is greater than faith? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
We are saved by God’s grace alone. We can do nothing, apart from God’s grace, to receive the free gift of salvation. Also, we have to respond to God’s grace. Protestants believe that, too. However, many Protestants believe that the only response necessary is an act of faith; whereas, Catholics believe a response of faith and works is necessary...or, as the Bible puts it in Galatians 5:6, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumsion is of any avail, but faith working through love...faith working through love...just as the Church teaches.
Nancy, explore your faith more deeply. I do believe once you do you will find yourself drawn to the Church Jesus himself built - the Catholic Church.
The newspaper reported that there were about 300 people at the program at Veteran's Park yesterday. My estimate is closer to double that.
Regarding my salvation Anononymous is concerned about? I reiterate....no works required for me? The only works is my faith and my asking ("ask and you shall receive"). It is so simple and "being good as you seem to believe doesn't have a thing to do with Christianity". I reiterate....if it did then why is the "Thief on the Cross" there?? The Devil has no interest in asking/receiving so I won't be seeing him there. LOL! Gee I'm sad some think it is so difficult to be a Christian? I guess to simple to be for real? I'm Bapt but a great Presbyterian
in South Fl (I believe that was where) started a phenomenal bible study on this very topic years ago. Christians have always had it tough is why they came to this country in the first place. So, again, I'm in such great historical company like out Founding Fathers. LOL
Dear Anonymous Catholic,
I thank you so much for your verses and will try and copy the post if the blog will allow it? I love to study! I wish I knew who you were so I didn't have to bore those on the site that mock us. My private email is saharastacy@cs.com if you want to email me. The fact remains.....I will go to the mat working to elect Christian leadership and another fact is that if I died tonight I know where I would be headed. Not worried a bit and looking forward to it someday. I will even be "Political" up there because the first person I'm looking up is EVE for disobeying God and causing us women our little problems like painful childbirth. LOL! I can't wait to ask here who in the world she thought she was??? I bet I will have a whole line of women behind me!
Dear Anonymous Catholic,
One more question maybe you can answer or I will just have to wait until Fall when I attend the next football game to find out. My husband coaches football at Trinity Catholic. I was never around the Catholic church much so never had the pleasure to meet any of the Pastors (Fathers I should say). Speaking of knowing someone because of their "love". There is one of the Fathers that greets the students at the gate into the ball field at Trinity. He just seems to have a halo around him that you can FEEL goodness radiating from him??? The kids love him and you can't USUALLY trick that many kids. Would any of you Catholics know which of the Fathers would follow sports with the kids?? I have heard of a Father P and a Father D and a Father O.... maybe even more??? I don't have a clue who he is though? People flock
to him? He seems to be a magnet. Now, I picture Jesus being very much like this man in personality!
Nancy
Changing subjects for a minute. Not that religion isn't important.
Two reasons Kurt Kelly will win: (1) has raised more money (2) has more signs (at least my opinion).
One reason Kurt will win... He is by far the better candidate
Just participated in a telephone survey about the Senate & House races. They didn't even have Steve Shaw in the survey. Ain't that a hoot, the guy who is probably going to win the House election excluded!
Dear Anomymous Catholic,
You asked for a verse and I can get you more but don't want to bore those not interested here. But since you asked for a verse about faith and salvation. I have one by memory....Ephesians 2 vs 8,9....
"For by grace are you saved thru faith and that not of yourself. It is the gift of God not of works least any man should boast." In other words you don't get to heaven and boast of all the GOOD things you did because that isn't how you got there. The 5 chapters in Romans is esentially a legal defense against not doing works for salvation. When Protestants speak of "Believing" we mean "Believing Jesus was sent to wash away our sins....not just to believe in the man as other religions of that day BELIEVED in him and still do to this day but they don't accept what he had to offer them" Anymore questions? My mind is still set on electing Judeochristian conservatives to office!! Want to REALLY whack me??
DIGEST THIS..... I also believe that the day we turn our back on Israel we are doomed!! Why have we been the most blessed country?? We love the Jews because of Jesus!
Nancy
Glenn Beck is one of my favorites. He was discussing a survey tonight that the religious bloggers on here might be interested in. In a survey of nearly 30,000 college students, some interesting statistics about cheaters in college:
65.4% of students who are religious cheat.
58.3% of students who are not religious cheat.
67.7% of students at schools with an Honor Code cheat.
41.5% of students at schools without an Honor Code cheat.
3.37 the GPA average of cheaters.
2.85 the GPA average of non-cheaters.
64.8% males who cheat.
42.0% females who cheat.
What does this have to do with the political races? Probably nothing, other than some of these students may become politicians. Which ones—the cheaters or non-cheaters?
I have to look past the personalities and at the job description - who can spend three months a year in Tallahassee and know what Marion County needs and will fight for what Marion County wants:
--a man in our area for 2 years with an expectant wife whose claim to fame is his dad? Sorry, Damon.
--Another attorney? Sorry, Steve.
--A Businessman who stands to gain from the connections he makes in Tallahassee and uses God's name like he is a Baptist preacher? Sorry, Kurt.
--That leaves me with Parnell. At least he is retired and has time to put into the job, both here and in Tallahassee.
My friend's mother was contacted by a phone survey and she told them Shaw. In fact, she had already voted by absentee ballot. They called and simply asked' "Who are you voting for?" Maybe there are different calling companies, etc. The one calling and not mentioning Shaw is probably paid by a campaign to make it sound like Shaw's not in it.
Your estimate of three months a year is on the low side. When you consider the committee and other special assignments between sessions, it's more like five months a year. Just ask any of the legislators.
6:40- DITTO- Kelly is the MOST Qualified candidate.
Anyone hear baxley on the radio yesterday? what did you think?
Whoever wins will surely be to exhausted to enjoy the victory at first. If they need a place to chill the winner is welcomed to a free week in my little one bedroom beach condo on the 2nd floor facing the ocean in Daytona Beach. The offer is the same to each of the 4 candidates! Us activists will always have our favorite Republican but hopefully when the polls close we will all support THE WINNING REPUBLICAN!
Nancy
Kelly the most qualified???
Blind blind blind.
He hasn't accomplished a damn thing at the school board and you kurt lovers still to this day can't come up with anything other than his christianity.
One more week. Your boy is going to lose. Thank God.
11:51 on 5/28- You forgot to mention native american.
Blind blind blind- accomplishments are many. Just open your eyes- stop being BLIND. You better jump on board - the Kelly train is growing by the hour.
name one damn it!!!
You cant do it. Youhave been asked and you answer in generalities.
Answer the damn question with specifics
blind to what?
soft on crime because he felt the need to cover for natural born leaders who like to tote guns to school? Jumping Steve Hering for providing doors to the school system? Should I go on??
Kurt is a fake arrogant pompous ass. That is the train that is growing my friend. Sit back and watch it!!!!
How about this?
A picture of Kurt and Nancy Stacy arm in arm and Nancy has on a "Kurt Kelly" shirt. That is going to make a great mailer for somebody!!!! That would make the June 26th race quite interesting.
Are they a package deal???
Hey, ANON from 9:43 p..m., you seem a little angry!
You sound like a pompous jerk instead! In addtion, you need to go to an anger management class.
Oh, by the way, I already voted for Kurt Kelly via absentee ballot.
We always thought she's for Kurt Kelly. Seeing that picture would prove it to many of us.
Go Damon!
P.S. To DUDE,
Several of us just early voted for Damon!
Did anyone hear the candidates on WOCA today? I would like to hear UNBIASED, if that is possible, analyses of the candidate's performances.
Good luck finding someone!
Not many people listen to WOCA anymore. It has become irrelevant.
I heard WOCA this am. Shaw was articulate. He had some catch phrases like catch and release for illegal immigration etc. Baxley sounded nice talked about his young family with a new baby on the way. He talked about service to community being a deputy and said he wanted to look out for the future. Townley sounded like a guy who missed public service and wanted to get back into the saddle. He wants a citizens group of about 24 to advise him. Kelly talked about his backround community service, school board experiance etc. They each identified a lot of problems but were not long on solutions. Anyone else hear the show?
I was out of town or I would have heard the candidates as my radio stays on WOCA. My husband's stays on KTK and mine on WOCA. The morning shows on WOCA rolls right into Rush and then Hannidy and then into John Lund show. I was at my chiropractor, Dr. Klein and he brought up just recently about how great that station has gotten lately. There happened to be two patients in the lobby and one of those spoke up saying that was the only station he listened to for the past year. I know people around here listen to a couple other stations but I could promise on a stack of bibles that I don't even know what they are on the radio dial. Sometimes surfing around I find them if WOCA has a really boring show. LOL Oh, and I didn't even know that the candidates in dist 24 had made up shirts?? I know I have seen Dennis people with campaign t-shirts on? Maybe I can get one of each and have them all made into one?? LOL
Nancy
Nancy
Nancy Stacy,
Thanks for your neat gesture of offering your Daytona condo to the winner of the House primary for a weeks vacation! I’m hoping that Parnell Townley is the one taking you up on your offer.
Several of my Democrat friends (yes, I do talk to them) are praying (yes, they do pray) that either Baxley or Kelly win. They believe a George Bush like Republican will be a much easier opponent in 2008. Also, they anticipate a Dem, who was not interested in the special election, will enter the election in 2008. And there is a possibility that James Walker may be back from Iraq by then. Walker would be tough to beat in this county going up against inexperienced, non-vet stay at home politicians like Kelly or Baxley. I'd even vote for him.
I guess we are simply going to have to wait until 2008 to see how smart your write in candidacy is or isn’t for the Republican Party.
Dear critic from Belleview,
Anyone who speaks from an alien name has about as much credit with me as do the illegal aliens residing here. I'm sorry for you that you are so ashamed of your comments that you must hide. I'll just say that had your Democrat been smart enough to fill out her paperwork and find the 50 empty parking spots across the street where I parked my candidacy would have been a mute point. The primary would have been closed anyway. Now all those Democrats who couldn't find a candidate smart enough to park her car won't be skewing our Primary. If Parnell wins then we know he won it fair and square and actually I think he would rather have it that way at the end of the day. I can happily live with the results if I know my fellow Republicans chose THEIR Republican representation to Tallahassee. What I do know is that it will be Baxley, Kelly, Shaw or Townley and my great fellow Republicans spoke!! I will hear them!
Nancy
mellow out dude once again dodges the question of Kurts accomplishments. Not angry "dude" just know a fake when I see one.
Its great that you excercised your right to vote. More people will do the same and take care of Kurties political career.
Critic from Belleview,
You have hit the nail on the head my friend.
Our dear friend Nancy "queen of the universe" Stacy continues to show the isolationist attitude that will/and has caught up with the "Marion County" Republicans. The dethroning of Harris started a fall that doesn't seem to register with them.
I would almost say you are somewhat of a prophet. This special election is the foundation of the continued removal from office of the Kurt Kelly/Baxley type candidate in this community. There is no doubt that if Parnell wins the 2008 will be a tight race between he and whoever the democrat challenger will be. If Kelly/Baxley win the democrat challenger will have to do little more than put a name on the ballot. He/she will be a shoe-in.
And yes, Nancy's stunt has helped to accerlate this phenomenon all the more. Keep up the good work Nancy. Ironically, you being out their in the forefront will eventually guarantee District 24 some legitimate and fair representation. It will just be someone who thinks the exact opposite of you and for that THANK GOD!!
Keep up the good posts "critic".
www.damonbaxley.com
Dear Belleview and Anonymous,
Whew, don't know who you are BUT do know one thing.......all four candidates, Kurt, Harris, Baxley and Baxley all have one thing in common which is that they are known Christian conservatives. That gives us a good hint that you are a liberal. One thing I will say about liberals I have seen as a whole. They are usually angry people who probably were not popular, atheletic or muscically inclined so had no niche like sports, band, youth church choir, scouts, etc so spent their childhood resentful of the NONmisfit group.
I shouldn't say this but I will and God will surely forgive me as I'm not perfect and do have occasional nonchristian thoughts. LOL! When I see a group of liberal activists on TV they are the freakyist and funniest looking little misfit creatures on the planet who I believe all have one thing in common. That is the anger related to a miserable childhood where they didn't fit in so all they know is to despise those people they blamed as kids (popular group with niches) for their misery.
The Democrat who blamed her friend's lack of ability to file in this race because a Baxley campaigner would NOT give his parking spot to her is a perfect example. LOL! For Peter's sake....he didn't give it to me either!!!! They are so filled with anger that they are going to force people to give up something they have for them because liberals mutually agree that the world owes them something. If Baxley had that parking space then why didn't she go to where I parked a few feet away?? I'll tell you why she didn't go somewhere else like me! Liberals just simply want someone ELSE to be accountable/blamed for their own stupidity. There-in lies the reason they weren't popular in school!! Kids don't like people who WHINE and neither do I!! Go for counseling and GET HAPPY!
Nancy
Sounds like you also have quite a bit of anger Nancy!
Hate filled comments like yours reinforce what's wrong with the Republican Party and why people like you are no longer influential. I'm sure you will never be on Charlie Crist's Christmas card list. And he is the new wave of Republican, not fear mongers and hateful types like you.
The person from Belleview is very correct, whether or not posted as Anonymous. I accept his point of view, and your defensive reaction assures me that he is on point. Again, your point of view is not always correct.
I'm glad you now accept Mr. Townley as a Christian, after many months of categorizing him as not one. I'm sure he will be more forgiving of you than you have been of him because he is a man of integrity and strength who does not need people like yu supporting him to win.
Nancy,
Whew! as you say. I am extremely happy and even more so now that I know I am not a liberal according to your criteria. Lets see, actually I am extremely athletic, i can play 3 different instruments, was very popular in school and have continued popularity to this day that would make your head spin.
Once again Nancy your mouth shows your true colors. Are you telling me that only Republican conservative christians are athletic, muscially inclined, popular and fit for public service?
Your world view is amazing. You are by far the most narrow minded individual I have ever seen.
Keep up the good work Nancy. You are doing great.
Actually from the sounds of it Nancy I would say that you have described yourself more than some "liberals". And that what its so sad. People want to try and love you but you just make it so damn hard.
Amen city guy.
Nancy,
Have you ever met Cindy Sheehan?
Being the super republican that you are I am sure you know who she is.
You two have alot in common actually. Different messages but out of the same mold.
Great observation!
Stacy is as far to the lunatic right as Sheehan is to the lunatic left. Super comparison.
Anger dude,
Kurt Kelly has done a lot for the citizens of Marion County while on the School Board.
He spear-headed the following:
1. Upcoming renovations and construction needs for Vanguard High School
2. Creation of MTI
3. Building of the new Forest High School
4. Creation of the K-8 school in Marion Oaks
5. Naming of an elementary school after the veteran who gave his own life in order to save his fellow commrads from death. (It's interesting how some of the other School Boards Members were against this honorable deed and didn't want to name a school after this brave soldier).
I don't see anything pompous about these achievements. I see leader in Kurt Kelly who cares about his community.
So, go back to you anger management class and mellow out...
I never said Mr. Townley wasn't a Christian as only God knows that. I said I didn't view him as a Christian CONSERVATIVE and unless he does something in the future to change my mind I still stand with that belief. SO, you are wrong again as usual....I haven't changed my position on Townley at all? Silly liberal children I bet you know this saying well>>> Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me. TEE HEE...Oh, by the way for the liberal who said "Nancy is as bad as Pat Strait" may I tell you I am insulted that you UNDERestimated me??? I am TWICE as bad as Pat!! LOL!! So, you were wrong again! LOL Oh no, Cindy Sheehan isn't to the left anymore....didn't you watch the news yesterday?? She just dumped them all so you are wrong again! Ha! Oh, I doubt you played 3 sports but I wouldn't be surprised if you warmed the bench for 3? True atheletic men are out coaching kids and making a positive difference in children's lives and not computer nerds like you guys who talk big behind AYONYMOUS. UGH...cowards just like I'm sure you were in highschool. I'm telling everyone...the next LIBERAL event on TV just look at the weirdos who represent the Dems. Just tell your children it is a Halloween parade and they will not know the difference because really it is. teehee.

Glenn Beck’s survey about college student cheating is interesting. We have a related situation. How about this?
“43% (3 of 7) of the candidates (or their supporters) are trying to screw up our Straw Poll results.”
Could it be that some of our bloggers were part of the “cheaters” group when they attended college?
NOTE: We’ll post an update on the Straw Poll results tomorrow, and post final results on Sunday. Some interesting turnarounds in the voting, compared to the results of our first Straw Poll. More later.
You Republicans are so entertaining!
Reminds me of something Ann Coulter once said: “Republicans could be relied on to form a circle facing inward, then open fire”. Sure looks like what is happening in the Senate and House primaries.
Liberals and right wing nutcases, they seem really attracted to this blog.
By the way Blogmaster, are you surprised that Republicans would try to cheat on your straw vote? That’s a qualification for being a Republican. Just ask that right wing fanatic Nancy.
Question Blog Master? If the results of the straw poll are tainted then why do they even matter?? I haven't voted at all but sounds like the poll
will be a joke?
Nancy
NPA,
Forgot to thank you for the compliment as you called me a "fanatic". Historically I couldn't be in better company because our Founding Fathers were likewise referred to as "fanatics". God bless you for paying me such a grand compliment! I am humbled.
Nancy
Hi mellow out Dude-
This is great. I see where kelly has done many accomplishment. This should either shut them up or they won't believe it. So all of you kelly bashers - face it -the voters of Marion county should see that this man is the kind of man who they can count on in Tallahassee.
Nancy,
They aren't tainted. When some idiot sits in front of their computer and puts in 20 votes one after another from the same ISP number for the same candidate, it is very easy for the polling system to identify. Furthermore, when this is done several times over a few days, it is even more irritating.
Blogmaster,
Honestly though...they can still switch up computers and do it if they are that dead set upon cheating. I guess that is why polling like this is something fun to do but will not mean much unless by pure luck. Everyone has a 50 50 chance of being right anyway. I don't even have a ghost of a guess how either the House or Senate will turn out? All I know is that Republicans WILL CHOOSE THEM. That is good enough for me and I'm SMILING! I can live with any of the 4 for a year and then re-evaluate if necessary.
Nancy
First, Nancy you are an incredibly bitter woman.
But you are wrong again. No bench warmer here. Got the trophies, plaques, and certificates to prove it. Sorry. And oh, I have even coached a team to 1st place.
People like you are easy to debate. Your mouth moves faster than your brain.
Keep up the good work.
Leslie,
Would you change your mind if you were able to read the minutes of some of the meetings where these "5 accomplishments of Kurt" were debated?
Tell me you wouldn't still believe in doughboy
AS JOHN WOULD SAY: AND THAT'S THE TRUTH.
You just can't make this stuff up folks.
ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS !!!
Clayton Ellsworth
Yes isn't it sweet the way they give trophies/certificates to everyone to include bench warmers? If they practiced with the team they should get the same certificates BUT most atheletes lose their certificates and only keep the newspaper clippings of the records they broke so the fact you still have yours tells me alot. LOL!
Nancy
Mellow Out Dude;
What does "spear-headed" mean?
I believe we could use that word with the names of several other School Board members for the projects you listed as Kelly's accomplishments.
Kelly's technique is not to Spear-Head, but to Bull-Head!
It is obvious that angry dude is just that. Angry dude has a vile mouth problem as well. I will believe someone who has stated that FACTS calmly and precisely. Angry dude- you are acting like at a hot head and you are a name caller. Chill out and see the truth- Kurt Kelly is the MAN for seat 24.
7:27- Your tactics are to smear instead of truth-telling. You MUST live a miserable life. All this negative stuff will hit your health.
KELLY'S accomplishment are many. FACE IT Kelly bashers, you can't continue to twist or deny the truth.
TRUTH WILL PREVAIL AND YOU WILL BE EXPOSED.
Bull is what you all have TRIED to shoved down our throats for weeks. Your Bull is full of sooooo many misguiding and lie fulled statements.
The best set of comments I’ve seen in many weeks were on this AM by Critic from Belleview. He/she has it pegged. 2008 will be the most important election date for the House district 24 seat.
We can count on it that the Democrats will not let any Republican get a pass in 2008. I agree with Critic, a guy like Walker—conservative Dem—would be a good candidate. However, I doubt he will be back from Iraq.
Frankly, I’m in the camp where I wouldn’t be too upset with a Kelly win. It’s only for a year, and it will be extremely difficult for him to build the support he will need in 2008. It also gives the Democrats, or a stronger Republican than we may have had this time around (several people already have someone in mind), an opportunity to run against him in 2008.
Kelly’s campaign has been so divisive, hate filled and full of misrepresentations by him that he will NEVER get the Republicans to unify behind him in just one year. If he doesn’t have full Party support in a general election, he will go the way of a Randy Harris. With some credible opposition, Kelly might not even make it through a Republican primary. Remember that statement above attributed to Ann Coulter—so true in this election.
I’m not going to get too exercised or excited about the special election. I’ll vote for my candidate. If he wins, that’s great! If not, judgment day will come around very soon again in 2008. I never thought Harris would be defeated and he was. No politician is invincible, especially the arrogant and divisive ones.
vile mouth to you because someone opposes your precious kurtie boy.
Kurt Kelly is not loved by the masses. Get that thru your head. He has accompished nothing nothing nothing. He takes credit when it is due others. I'll bet you haven't been to more than 2 schoolboard meetings or watched any. The man is a joke. I spoke with an individual just 2 days ago. They met Kurt for the first time. Impression? Pompous arrogant ass. Not my vile mouth saying that, just someone with an objective view. KURT IS NOT THE MAN. HE ABUSES HIS POWER.
And Nancy, your rantings today prove to me you have had a lonely life, always looking for love and validation from someone or something. It really is quite sad that your biggest fan is yourself. The way you have to degrade everyone around you to make the pain inside you go away. It truly is sad.
I will pray for you.
Excellent comments "let em go".
I would suggest that it wouldn't matter if it was 08 10 12 or 2015, the republicans will never fully be behind Kurt. He doesn't have those charasmatic abilities. he and his supporters dont seem to understand that and instead of finding a solid candidate, they lash out at anyone who could carry the message better than him. I guess it comes down to jealousy. I am reminded of Ronald Reagan when he lost to Ford in 76, dejected and hurt he rose above the defeat and was steadfast in the fact that the message should prevail because it was bigger than him. Humility. What a great virtue. Lack of it caught up with Harris. Lack of it will absolutely doom Kurt Kelly eventually. He will not last in Tally more than a year. He will be chewed up and spit out very very quickly.
Keep the faith. "Shining city on hill" as Reagan said.
Why Kurt Kelly?
He is energetic and well versed on the issues. Knows and is known by all of the other Community leaders. He has an overwhelming broad based support for his candidacy.
There simply is just no comparison. He is, by far, the best experienced, best educated and most qualified candidate in this race.
B... S...
How can Kurt have broad based support when over half of the voters in our county can't even vote for him?
I'd bet if he wins, which I doubt he will, he will have a campaign started to replace him before the end of 2007.
The best qualified candidate will be elected and it won't be Kurt Kelly. We may all be in for a surprise on this one. Including all those great polls that have been going on. I love to play games with those folks when they call me, and they have. Oh the candidates I love for the pollsters!
The biggest broad based support Kelly has is his mommy.
Nancy,
You still have not shown me where in the Bible it states that we are saved by faith alone.
I will share with you some more of God's words.
The Bible is equally clear on the saving role of good works in the lives of the faithful.
1 Pet 2:12
Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that if they speak of you as evildoers, they may observe your good works and glorify God on the day of visitation.
Rev 2:2
I know your works, your labor, and your endurance ...
Mt 5:16
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
Mt 16:27
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct.
Mt 25:34-36
Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'
The Bible makes it clear that there must be a balanced relationship between our faith and its expression in good works.
James 2:14-18
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
1 Cor 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Heb 6:10
For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name by having served and continuing to serve the holy ones.
James 2:20-22
Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.
Mt 16:27
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct.
1 Cor 3:8
The one who plants and the one who waters are equal, and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor.
Col 3:23-24
Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others, knowing that you will receive from the Lord the due payment of the inheritance.
The Bible indicates that it is wrong to disturb the balance of works expressing a life of faith.
Man is not saved by faith alone.
James 2:24
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
James 2:26
For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Elected student body senator representing the business school at FSU.
Founding boardmember of the Institute for Conservative Studies at FSU.
The ONLY Gator in the race!
-These are just some of his accomplishments -
From his speeches, it is clear that he resonates with the electorate. He is most down-to-Earth and believable of the bunch.
We are actually getting a bargain by electing him - nobody else brings what he does to the table.
All of the other candidates ramble on about nubulous terms like, "Maturity," "Strong Leadership," "5th Generation Marion Resident," and "I Bring a Skill Set to the Job." What a bunch of complete puffers. Every time that I have heard Shaw he is completely on target and gives specific solutions. I've never heard him say some lame party speak like, "Strong Leadership." Shaw is the real deal and he is going to have a very strong showing on Tuesday.
voice of reason,
no doubt the qualifications are strong for shaw. it would be great for him to win.
the reality is he will receive less than 15% of the vote.
baxley townley kelly will all be in the 25%-30% range.
Received another one of those “it makes you want to vomit” calls. From a supporter of Kurt Kelly telling me how Kurt will be tough on illegal immigration. Sure, just like he’s tough on student law breakers. I imagine we might see Kelly in court asking for illegals to be given leniency because they come here as “respectful and natural leaders”? Football playing students and illegals who violate laws, all on Kelly’s give ‘em a break list. What a crock, Kelly tough on immigration!
Dear Catholic Anonymous,
I put "Catholic" only to sort you from the others since I think you told me you were? You have absolutely NO IDEA how much I appreciate the time it must have taken for you to post your bible verses. I know you love the Lord or you would not have spent that kind of time. Most of Romans tells us a totally different context of what you wrote. I don't have time to type the book of Romans BUT I have copied your post and will digest it over the next few days inbetween trips to the barn etc.
I am training one of my horses and a break to study God's word is always appreciated. Thank you SOOOO much and I mean that because I don't know who you are?? BUT, you love the Lord and whether you like it or not we are sisters/brothers in Christ. You are right, I am protestant and your catholic views are most interesting because as you stated us Protestants do view "saved by Grace/faith. I always asked my Catholic friends how they believed diff but they never knew?? You do know and I look forward to our discussion. I only wish we didn't have to bore the nonchristians on the site but then again they probably need to read what we are discussing for a very good reason.
I do view this as having to do with politics since the Republican Party is majority Christian.
LOL

Bloggers,
Now that we are to the end of this campaign the hoot is that the person WE are supporting (regardless of who they are) would probably be better off in their PERSONAL life if they did not win. Look at Randy Harris.....I haven't seen that man look so happy/relaxed in years! He is enjoying his family and not on pins and needles awaiting some lunatic to call him tattling on a neighbor about some off the wall thing. I'm telling you.....whoever we elect just remember they only have a year there UNLESS they show they can make a difference. So, this is not the life and death matter some on this blog make it out to be. I am just thankful only Republicans will choose the man that only Republicans will be held accountable for. Otherwise, just have all nonpartisan races and forget primaries. When Republicans started taking over schoolboard seats that was exactly what the liberals pushed for with elected school board members. That seat went "nonpartisan". This "open primary" bla bla is just an extension of that very same effort but thank goodness the Republican legislators outsmarted the liberals on this gig.
Nancy
To "Fight Crime" post 7:16 - I'm curious, what Did happen to those "student lawbreakers". Any clue what the punishment was?
one of em showed up back in school until a city cop shoaw him at practice, and he got booted again.
viftqtnancy believe it was the republican legislators who changed the skool bored to non partisan. didn't know the republican house and senate fell into ur liberal tag line. same group of lawmakers decided to hold open primaries cept for marion county where u are a perinniel write in.
Anonymous skool bored guy,
One problem the Republicans have and I hate that about them, is THINKING they can get along and they are nieve enough to think if they give the Dems something they want (nonpartisan elections because Dems are losing when Floridians associate the party they belong to the candidate) then the Dems will give them something back. WRONG WRONG WRONG......That is precisely where George W. Bush went wrong.....he too tried to be nice to get along with them which was a wrong move. His father Bush did the same thing! Republicans are religious and tend to FALSELY believe they can trust the forked tongues. LOL! Just like that poll given on what percentage of "religioius" kids cheat vs the "nonreligious". The HOOT is that the "nonreligious" would have no convictions in their heart to tell the truth so only a fool would believe that poll. LOL! The religious kids would be more likely to own up at the end of the day where the nonreligious would have no inner conviction to tell the truth BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT RELIGIOUS. The poll therefore is a complete hoot! My most religious child of the three would do bad things BUT would come to me during the middle of the night to wake me up and own up to what he did because his lie bothered him. My least religious child had to be caught dead in his tracks for him to own up. Those are the same results you would get from 30,000 mixed religious and nonreligious college students just on a larger scale.
nancy
No way is Shaw going to win this time around. But the guy is going to be a player in the future. If Kelly by some miracle wins the election, I would encourage Shaw to open his campaign for 2008 right away.
Bloggers,
I think this election will be so close that none of them will have a mandating huge majority. I think this election is like flipping a coin? Why start telling people now to open accounts for 2008?? Just give the winner a chance whether its Parnell, Kurt, Damen or Steve. I'm impressed that we had 4 viable candidates when the Dems couldn't find one!!! GO REPUBLICANS!
Nancy
I can't wait till this election is over and nancy stacy goes away. Nancy is obviously NOT politically homeless.
Sorry, but I won't be leaving!!!
You have me forever darling.
Nancy
Nancy is probably correct to give the person elected a year to see how they do. I know I was convinced that Stan McClain would be a failure as a County Commissioner. Once he got out from under the influence of Randy Harris, he has maintained his conservative values and is one of our better Commissioners.
Only problem I have with Kurt Kelly is his personality is much more like that of Harris than McClain. I’d bet Kelly will have some big problems with his peers in the Legislature in getting things done. One thing about it, that group won’t take any bull from him like the school board members do.
But we won’t know who gets the chance to serve until next Tuesday. As someone said, we might all be surprised!
I started out three weeks ago undecided. Now, having heard all the candidates several times, I am decidedly for Steve Shaw.
Shaw winning the straw poll could be a foreshadowing of next Tuesday. Shaw speaks his own mind, has no special interests, and would be a breath of fresh air in Tallahassee. We all know that the winner of this race will automatically vote with the Republican leadership for this one year term--don't expect anyone to show any liberal stripes. But Shaw is the only one that is capable of coming up with ideas of his own--and I prefer a real Legislator, not just a yes-vote on conservative issues.
As to the blogmaster's question today-- Shaw would have certainly have been even more successful if he had chosen to campaign as an independent (or even as a Democrat).
But Shaw is a dyed-in-the-wool Republican and born conservative. He hasn't given up on his party and nobody would be able to convince him to run as anything other than a loyal Republican.
Shaw certainly could have raised a lot more money running as the "non-republican" in this race- no competition for the liberal dollar and no other primary candidates to contend with. Shaw could have used the additional time until the general election to gain more momentum and better name recognition. So he would have been better off to switch parties. But I have to tip my hat to a man that stands by his principles when that isn't the easiest option.
If Shaw doesn't pull off the upset on Tuesday, I hope he does open the 08' campaign account. I'll be rooting for our new state representative (whoever that is) to succeed, but I expect that if Shaw looses we will all be disappointed in the lack of solutions from the other guys.
So go to the polls and vote for Steve Shaw on Tuesday, June 5th, 2007!
Sorry none of us can party together and celebrate our winner (for a year we can all be happy with which ever candidate wins) because pwf and I are the only ones with a face not anom!!
I know Ron Crawford is somewhere in the mix and have my suspicions which anom. Bobby D is here somewhere too!
Nancy
Shaw raised about $10K in two weeks from ground zero so a longer race would have given him more money but it might not matter as much here. Shaw has been getting a lot of free press and TV and I have one of his mailers. With his signs too he has gotten out there. The big thing with Shaw and Townley is that they don't smack of arrogance. People are really tired of arrogance in politicians.
Blog master: I am curious; how many people voted in this "straw poll"?
I'm not the blogmaster, but the section with the results says there were 108 participants. I don't believe the poll is finished yet, cause I just voted tonight. Says final results published on Sunday.
Blog Master,
I honestly did not vote under my name or any name. I felt like it could be to skewed because folks could vote under one name on their computer....go to the spouse's computer and vote again and then to their kid's computer. So, I just didn't vote at all and infact didn't vote the last time either. THAT'S THE TRUTH!!
nancy
With the campaign winding down, I haven't seen anyone handicapping the choice Gov Charlie makes for Kurt Kelly's seat. Any suggestions out there? I know he represents the western side of the county.
Nancy, your an idiot.
I am not a liberal, not any of the things you say. Like I told you, you obviously have had a lonely life and have to talk down to people to try and validate yourself. It is truly sad. Your right, big deal about trophies and all the stuff you get when you win something. You don't know me and you haven't been to my residence to see that I can validate everything I have said. Not a bench warmer just an all-star!! TEE HEE as you always say.
I want to thank you for losing this election for Kurt. You have ultimately been a tremendous help with the way you run your mouth. Godspeed to you.
By the end of 2008 we will have legitimate representation in Tally. Why do I say that? Because it will not be Kurt Kelly. Mark it down.
Now get back out to the barn, saddle up seabiscuit, and enjoy the weekend.
So far, the Guv has two liberal Republicans to select from in replacing Kurt. You will hear there names in a day or so.
damn those liberal republicans!!!
What is this world coming to nancy??
Got another mailer today. Kurt Kelly representing veteran’s interests? Give us veterans a break! He could care less about veterans unless claiming to would help get him elected.
I’m a veteran and I’ll decide for myself who to support. I don’t need a letter on a mailer from some veteran I never heard of telling me who to vote for. Mr. Kelly is going to find pretty quickly that veterans think for themselves.
We have only two elected officials in this county who truly understand the needs of veterans because they have been one of us. That’s Cliff Stearns and Larry Cretul. Don’t try to foist off on us a pretender who hasn’t served a day in the armed services.
It is sad when honorable and distinguished veterans allow themselves to be prostituted by unscrupulous and uncaring politicians who want to use us only for political gain.
yeah i got one of those kelly mailers too. about as much truth to the vets one as the law enforcement one. funny thing about this gal nancy who defends kelly so much. she seems like a real live christian and how she can be fooled by such a klutz as kelly beats me. any veteran or cop who votes for him will be let down just as have most of us who voted for him five yrs ago. not this time tho.
Anonymous (Mr. Certificate)
I haven't spoken to Kurt since I saw him when I filed in Tallahasse. Daman and Kurt were both there. In fact, I don't think I have spoken to Damen since then either? Sounds like you have a jealousy problem though?? Why would I be in a stitch about who wins a seat that is only for a year? Campaigning my HORSE right now for his next show has my interest a whole lot more than who sits in the Dist 24 seat a year. Why do you care so much?? I don't?
I just care that it is a Republican ELECTED by Republicans. If I cared wouldn't I have voted in the straw poll? I could have even voted on my daughter's computer and not even been recognized in any way? I DIDN'T CARE ENOUGH TO WALK 30 STEPS TO DO THAT!!!! Ahhhh....you care about this little 12 months because it gives you a reason to hate someone/something. Ugh......go ride a horse on the greenways and your buttocks will be so sore that you will forget about that painful hate you are eaten up with inside.
What has Kurt Kelly got that you want that makes you obscess over him?? Maybe a happy wife and family?? Now that I can say I is a
FACT. Your jealousy is so obvious. Randy Harris being out of politics has been the best thing for his family and maybe that would be the same for Kurt? What in the world is it to me??
I haven't even watched a SchoolBoard meeting in at least 3 years? I couldn't even tell you what the issues are but I am worried about Damon since I saw Frick and Frack (Ron and Steve) endorsed him. That could throw a nonconservative into that seat but as I said.... a year is nothing.
Nancy
Would you people stop picking on Kurt Kelly!
He is the best hope some of us Democrats have had to win an election since Barbara Fitos. He may even be easier to beat than Randy was. We can’t wait to have Ms. Stacy eating crow in 2008.
Leave Kurt alone and let him win, please!
as a republican I couldn't agree with you more "help kurt..."
I ask one thing. Will you please see to it that a legitimate candidate with a (D) behind there name is on the ballot next year???
Alot and I mean alot of us (R)'s are ready to vote (D).
See everyone at the polls on Tuesday.
Dear anonymous cowards (no name??),
Oh, no....if you liberals don't have a candidate to run in 2008 I won't be eating crow because I will be to busy running back up to Tallahassee to nominate myself AGAIN regardless of who is on the ballot for Republicans. Oh darlings (I'm talking down to you whining sissies in case you didn't get it) if I'm not running as a write-in I won't even know who is on the ballot because I prefer to be campaigning my champions at Nationals. There is plenty of fun politics in the animal world and honestly I prefer their intelligence. TEE HEE..
Nancy
You are being very unfair. Nancy is the kind of person wo will be able to bring ALL the Republicans together behind Kurtie, if he wins.
TEE HEE!!
A mailer marked paid for and approved by Parnell Townley is out that is devoted to an aspect of intellectual freedom and the library. The mailer relates to certain activities in 2001 relative to the status of the bible in the collection of the Marion County Public Library System.
I haven’t followed the District 24 race comprehensively, but I do know about a number of the mailers and phone calls in this race. The Townley mailer is the first instance I am aware of in which one of the four candidates has raised anything related to intellectual freedom at the library as an issue.
If others know of other such instances, I would be interested in seeing them posted in as specific terms as possible in terms of time and place and what was said or you can write to me at the getlibraryfacts@cox.net address I posted for those interested in the facts on this topic.
To all. Yesterday, I filed a complaint with the federal Office of Special Council on the candidacy of Mr. Damon Baxley. Mr. Baxley, a Deputy Sheriff, is in clear violation of the "Hatch Act" of 1938 forbiding government employees from participating in partisan elections. Penalties include, dismissal from the department and a fine to Marion County equal to two years of the offenders salary. This blatant disregard for the law of the land must not continue.
A bit more about Kelly’s questionable ad concerning his veteran claims.
CLAIM: Kelly pushed for the naming of an elementary school after a local, decorated veteran.
FACT: The school naming was fellow school board member Sue Mosley’s idea and Kelly is taking credit for it.
CLAIM: Kelly served on the Veterans Park Advisory Committee that made this park a wonderful place.
FACT: Half true. He did serve on the now defunct Committee. However, the real work in making Veterans Park the excellent Park it is today should be credited to Tommy Needham and Jeffrey Askew. These guys were the moving forces. Kelly was an observer, at best, among about 10 Committee members.
CLAIM: Received the Outstanding Veterans Service Award.
FACT: A nebulous award given by his good buddy Hank Whittier to help buy Whittier some political leverage with Kelly in his long-standing plan to replace Dennis Baxley.
Looks like we may have a new recipient for the name “PUFFER” on the Homeless Blog!
to bravolima - And why did our Supervisor of Elections not know this? Seems she needs to replaced as well if we voters have to do her job for her.
Truth in Ad,
It was Sue Mosley who appointed Hank whittier to the committee to name the School, it was kurt who appointed Margaurite Cavanugh also to the committee, and there was one other member, the three person naming committee came up with the name Hammett Bowen Elem. Not Sue and Damn sure not Kurt! But, you are right on target with all the other stuff you mentioned!
to Truth in Advertising...I don't believe Mr. Kelly said in his flyer that naming the school was "his" idea. They (the School Board) have to vote on that. Something which he did do. He did serve on the Veterans park committee whether you feel he was an asset or not. Matter of opinion. Were you on the committee? Now you are accusing Hank Whittier of being a tool of a Kurt Kelly conspiracy? What has Hank done to deserve this type of comment? Your analysis is so petty and amounts to little more than bogus gossip.
I all know is that it is great news that Hank is out their for Kurt.
He was also out their for Alvarez and he (Alvarez) got his ass handed to him.
Having Hank on your side speaks to the kind of candidate you are, a weak one. Ask Larry Cretul about Hank, ask Pat Howard about Hank, ask Sue Mosley about Hank and his foul mouth.
And ask the majority of veterans in this county about Hank.
I can't answer for the Sup. of Elections but, I believe, that it's not part of the qualification process. In other words - it's not their job. It is, however, the job of someone who intends to write new laws to be knowledgable of, at least, the ones that currently exist. Also, I'd like to ask: why didn't the MCGOP know about this?
Nancy, listen to me real hard.
Kurt Lovers on this blog listen real hard.
You have been on this blog setting Kurt on a CHRISTIAN platform above all others. Nancy you have preached at us that you and Kurt are the only true Christians. Listen Listen Listen.
Kurt's financial statement is out for the world to see. AND WHO IS SUPPORTING HIM?? EVEN MORE, WHO DID HE ACCEPT MONEY FROM AS THE GREAT ALMIGHTY CHRISTIAN, "HEART OF A PASTOR" THAT HE IS????
Read it and weep you pieces of crap HYPROCRITES!!!!!
ALCOHOL DISTRIBUTORS, UNIONS, KENNEL CLUBS, GAMING INDUSTRY.
THIS IS WHY YOU MAKE PEOPLE SICK. THIS IS WHY RANDY HARRIS LOST AND STARTED A TREND FOR YOU RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE NARROW MINDED INDIVIDUALS.
Nancy, lets see you cover his tracks now. I am sure that you will be able to since you type of people have the inside track on the bible and morality.
I WILL SAY THIS LOUDLY, KURT IS A POMPOUS ARROGANT HYPOCRITE.
www.votemarion.com folks. See it for yourself. He says one thing and his actions prove another.
Just like being tough on crime in his ads yet shows up to defend armed robbers. Just like he named a school when everyone knows there was a committee appointed. Just like he is loved by the veterans and the only one you can find is another piece of crap Hank Whittier.
Have you not had enough of his
BS?????
Dear Anoms,
I'm still laughing at my husband's comments last night. I was reading over some blog comments and he walked up behind me and asked what I thought was funny? He asked me if I was reading jokes again that my friends send to me often. I said no but he should read this blog site. So, he skimmed over a few comments and said "Do you know these girls"? and I said "These probably aren't girls". He said no man I can relate to writes silly stuff like this.....I know these are woman. LOL! I said NO NO NO....I know it is men because a couple of them sign their names like me. He said "Well, this blog is proof perfect all the FRUITS and NUTS do not live in Calif and I won't include the ones in the group that write under their names". LOL!!! He told my daughter this AM "Your mom is corresponding with either a bunch of women or a slew of fruity men". LOL!!!! Personally, I think the reason you men write under Anom is because you guys have no power under your own names. Ha! Those 108 votes on the poll I'm convinced were from 20 people who all have about 5 different sign on names or several computers in the home/business to trick the blog master with. How interesting that if there are so many CARING folks who CARE about government on here that they aren't over there writing about things happening ON GOVERNMENT BOARD threads on this very blog right now?? Why aren't you? Because I think SEVERAL OF YOU (not all) are a bunch of envious jealous people who have no power except under Anom. You don't REALLY mean to "make a difference for Florida families" but have little vendettas for people you envy. As much as I don't care for pwf AT LEAST he gathers info that happens at gov't meetings and I have seen his postings about that by looking back through old stuff on this blog I just found. Now, his info might be a bit twisted to me at times but at least he will listen to your take on the issue and sometimes adjust his. You fools that talk about "taking down Nancy"....for goodness sake I'm impressed you think I'm that important but I hate to burst your bubble....I'M NOT!!!! I could never be elected to office
because I don't know how to "sugar coat" a thing but will continue to CHASE because I'm much better at that. LOL! My vote today for Pres would be Buchannon! He won't sugar coat either and unfortunately will never be elected. When this election is over how about us SMART people moving over to a thread on the blog where we can start a "citizens oversight committee" and help poor John Lund out??? This would be a great tool to work thru so wouldn't require meetings etc that government COUNTS on citizens not having time for. We don't need to be UNDER the Commission's thumb but totally independent of all elected boards and keep an eye on all local
boards and possibly even the State!! Ten people sharing info could turn this County around so quick!! We might could even collect money to rent a billboard over by the Star Blunder giving the Blog site address.....now wouldn't that be a hoot and their lies would either have to stop or they would have everyone boycotting their advertisers??
Nancy
Whew Anom, show me where I ever said Kurt and I were the only Christians? If you will lie about that then your entire post isn't believable. I love Randy Harris and he would still be in office if liars hadn't misrepresented his position on the road tax. He simply wanted to give the PEOPLE a chance to vote vs make those decisions for the people. That is a perfect example of why us business people need to put our money where our mouth is and get this blog address out to the County so the Blunder can't pull stunts on conservatives like they did on Randy. You sound like you are losing what is left of your mind?? Never seen so much anger in my life and you need to see a professional. Please don't drive until you get over this.
Nancy
You Kelly supporters who take pot shots at the spelling, grammar, etc. of ads done by one of our local printers better step back and look at the one Kelly ran in today’s Star Blunder. Grammar is not good for a member of our School Board!
I imagine this blog does have a lot of FRUITS & NUTS who look at it. We all know at least one NUT who posts on here. I imagine it also has a fair share of women, men, Rs, Ds, blue-collar/white collar workers, gays (closet types and openly so), straights, married, unmarried, divorced, separated, cheating, educated, uneducated, grandfathers/grandmothers, etc……
Fruits and nuts go well together. I always like to follow them with a Budweiser or two!
My point, who really cares except Nancy Stacy who loves to cast dispersions on people when she can’t make a good point to defend her position or counter a good point made by someone else.
Since I'm so insignificant why was my name ever brought up on this site? Someone who posts here told me I was the "new topic" or I would have never even joined in. Glad you guys thought I was so UNimportant as to first bring my name up to bash! My question though is "why do you care about this nutty little horse trainer"?
LOL! OR, could it be I'm the most IMPORTANT person you know (which is scary) or why else would you have brought me up? LOL I don't spend time on a single person UNLESS I think they are IMPORTANT! I think Randy Harris is VERY IMPORTANT and do not believe we have seen the last of him! Honestly though my horse chat lines aren't nearly this much fun because no nuts/fruits there. The people are all secure with themselves so all have faces and names. You cowards are only brave behind Anom. Ugh.. Only on a blog would insignificant cowards like some of you even have a voice. I will see the REAL MEN/WOMAN who are BRAVE ENOUGH to challenge government over at the Blog Master's government thread when the nonproductive Anoms go crawl back into their tombs.
The SMART folks will hopefully move past all this bla bla and join up to make life better in Marion County for the next generation who deserve it. John Lund has no children so has more time than some us and has KINDLY opened a HUGE DOOR that all us caring parents/grandparents have to do is walk thru to make life great for the next generation here. If every County had a "John Lund and Mrs. Lund" this State would be the envy of the Nation. No TEE HEE here because I am DEAD SERIOUS.
