Politically Homeless

This blog is created as a forum for the increasingly large number of voters in Marion County, Florida who consider themselves to be "Politically Homeless". We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by "politics as usual". Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others stay registered with a party only to vote in primaries, but no longer identify with the party's current political direction. We encourage you to post your comments.

School Board: Golden Opportunity For Dems?

The current Republican domination of our county school board may be in jeopardy. Republican infighting and some big egos could set up an election scenario that puts three positions within the grasp of Democrats. The school board is a non-partisan race where Ds, Rs, AND 25,000 registered NPAs (no party affiliation) can vote.

As discussed on another thread, one of the school board members is recruiting other Rs to oppose two of the board members up for reelection. Lo and behold that individual may himself be opposed by a fellow R!

With each of the three seats having potentially 2-3 Rs running against each other, the Dems could smartly place one candidate of their own in each of the three spots. Let the Rs kill off each other via “splitting” the R vote! Then with unity around the Dem candidates, they might easily walk away from the election with all three seats reverting to Dem control.

Will it happen?
