Politically Homeless

This blog is created as a forum for the increasingly large number of voters in Marion County, Florida who consider themselves to be "Politically Homeless". We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by "politics as usual". Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others stay registered with a party only to vote in primaries, but no longer identify with the party's current political direction. We encourage you to post your comments.

Nader Enters Presidential Race!

Fox News has announced that Ralph Nader is launching a third-party campaign for president.

The consumer advocate made the announcement today on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He says most Americans are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties, and that none of the presidential contenders are addressing ways to stem corporate crime and Pentagon waste and promote labor rights.

Nader also ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He is still hated by many Democrats who call him a spoiler and claim his candidacy in 2000 cost the party the election by siphoning votes away from Al Gore in a razor-thin contest in Florida.

Tell us:

Is this a good move and how will it help/hurt the Democrat and Republican candidates?

Google: Obama in limo.

See what turns up. What a presidential candidate.

Nader got .38% of the vote in 2004. He will have little impact on the results. Might steal a few more votes from Obama or Clinton than from McCain. But Obama will still be the winner.

From the "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING " department :

What was Ralph Nader, a 74 year old pathetic loser thinking when he announced his 2008 bid for the presidency ? What could possibly motivate this has been to participate in public self destruction ?

At best, mental masturbation got the best of Ralph Nader, after all he is an intellectual eleteist; at worst it's a Republican dirty trick to shave votes from Barrack Obama who Republicans plan to soil as no candidate has ever been smeared in modern presidential history.

Maybe it's both of the above explanations. Money moves undetected so easily electronically that an off shore bank account for Nader's retirement is a possibility.

Problem is, if we ever find out about it , the election will be long over, the damage , if any, already done.

Ralph Nader's cause this time around is Ralph Nader and he thinks we are stupid enough to think otherwise.

Just saw a news report. The two Democrats are less than happy with Nader entering the race. Haven't seen or heard anything from John McCain.

Blogmaster: Today on CNN, Mike Huckabee said Nader's entry would probably help his party.

This is Huckabee's quote: "I think it always would probably pull votes away from the Democrats and not the Republicans, so naturally, Republicans would welcome his entry into the race.”

I don't always agree with Clayton's perspective but this time he nailed it!

Clayton--Like it or not, Nader is going to get votes. There are people who agree with him.

Need a re-do on my predictions yesterday.

Obama 51.95%

McCain 48%

Nader .05%

Nader is no big deal!

Nader at least gives another choice to the two Socialists and a Democrat we now have to pick from.

He's not as crazy as you might think. Has some good ideas. I'd vote for him over what we got.

Voice of Reason says . . .

Nader will have a big impact as he always does. Many lunatics who thought that Osama means change will go back to Nader. These people will precisely cancel-out the added blacks who will register to vote for Osama just because he's black and Oprah told them to.

Nader is a very smart man. He is probably the second most honest candidate (after McCane) and he has loyal followers.

He's the Democrat version of Ron Paul.
