Politically Homeless

This blog is created as a forum for the increasingly large number of voters in Marion County, Florida who consider themselves to be "Politically Homeless". We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by "politics as usual". Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others stay registered with a party only to vote in primaries, but no longer identify with the party's current political direction. We encourage you to post your comments.

Michigan Primary: What’s the Significance?

Here are the winners in the Michigan Primary.

Democrats

Clinton 55%
Uncommitted 40%

Republicans

Romney 39%
McCain 30%
Huckabee 16%

Anything stand out in these results? What about the large number of voters who came out to vote “uncommitted” in the Democrat Primary?

Mitt Romney told all those unemployed auto workers what they wanted to hear that Washington was coming to help them when he’s elected. John McCain was more truthful on the issue. I question Romney’s integrity.

You're right. Romney sounded like he was running for Governor of Michigan not President of the U.S.

Puts pressure on McCain--more bad news for Clinton.

Crist is sure playing it close to the vest about endorsing any of the candidates for President. Several other governors have already given their choice. Maybe he's going to be a late entry to support Obama.

Electile Dysfunction: the inability to become aroused over any of the choices for president.

How many of you have this “condition”? Now be honest!

None of the candidates give me much confidence in how they will manage the economy--save perhaps Mitt Romney.

I'll admit it. I've got ED, both types. One is being treated with Viagra. The second has no known treatment to date.

Question for Ellsworth-will Bush's economic package work and how's he going to pay for it?

Bush is giving a bandaid to the problem. Wait until the mortgage insurance companies start going belly up. That's when our economy really tanks and the Bush plan will be of little help.

Re: Stimulus Plan

Any quick fix stimulus plan that President Bush and Congress come up with will not be very effective, if effective at all.

The Federal Reserve with 225 economists and all sorts of computor models misjudged the impact of the subprime crises and they are seriously musjudging the severity of our current economic delemma.

The White house has been in a state of denial, listening to their own echoe down the well. "The economy is resilient, fundamentally strong, no recession forecast " Blah blah blah .

The result of the above misjudgement is that this action, or any other, is too late.

Obviously current economic models and rationale is faulty. Tinkering with the economy, as we have been doing, is coming home to roost. A monster has been created with no accurate measure.

Any tax rebates are not going to boost descretionary spending as they did in 2002. Times are much different now. The consumer is strapped with credit card debt, delinquencys and defaults are rising dramatically.

Consumers will pay down credit cards[ don't forget the record Christmas credit card binge], left over winter fuel bills, pay up mortages, generally reduce their debt before they spend on new descretionary purchases. Credit card companies and creditors will be the winners, the economy will benefit little.

Oh well, it's election year, the meaningless pandering will continue. The electorate, hungry for economic relief, will probaly buy this stimulus sham hook line and sinker.

Obama may understand what a Reagan Republican really is better than any of the Republican candidates!
