Turd Blossom!
Now that we have your attention!
Believe it or not, “Turd Blossom” is the nickname President Bush and his staff routinely use for Karl Rove. This is creating quite a PC (politically correct) issue for the Whitehouse in its relationship with the media. Several media sources, especially political cartoonists, are having a field day with Rove’s nickname. Reportedly, pressure is now being applied to stop the media from using Rove’s nickname. Some media groups have already relented to the pressure.
This all seems very silly to us. If the President and his staff openly call Rove “Turd Blossom”, then what’s wrong with the media doing the same?
What do you think: Does Rove’s nickname warrant killing its use by the media?
Thought this would be a good way to finish out our discussion topics for the month of July. A little political humor never hurt anyone, except perhaps Karl Rove!

Rove is a public figure. If the Prez and others call him Turd Blossom then he will have to live with his nickname. I'm sure the Democrats have called him this for some time!
Big deal! King Karl's real identity has been revealed. Now he knows how the lady in the CIA feels.
I have seen one of the Rove cartoons in Doonesbury. It wasn’t bad. No worse than some of the stuff done to members of the Clinton Administration. Politics is politics and when you are in power you have to live with this stuff. You aren’t going to shut up the media. Trying will make it worse.
Rove should resign. He is becoming an embarrassment to Bush. Rove may be a great behind the scenes political mind but he’s an awful public figure for the Republicans.
Rove's nickname is not that bad. What if the President had nicknamed him "Turd Head", now that would have been controversial. Sorry, I just couldn't control myself on this one!!!
I agree with Don. The more you push the media on this the more they will make an issue out of it. Just leave it alone.
Who cares what they call Rove. Let's get on with the investigation of wheter or not he has done anything wrong in revealing the name of the CIA agent. His nickname may become "Mud" if he did.
Rove's nickname is a non-issue. As someone said on tonight's edition of Hardball: When all is said and done, Karl will still Rove the Whitehouse.
I am disappointed with President Bush on this. His wife’s off color jokes at a dinner a few months ago and now the Rove nickname make me wonder about the Bush family’s Christian values.
I am not judging Rove until the investigation is complete. The issue is will there ever be an investigation?
The following is a letter-to-the editor from the 8/4/05 Gainesville Sun providing an additional perspective on the Rove controversy:
Many letter writers have demanded the resignation or firing of Karl Rove because he mentioned the name of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame to journalist Robert Novak and others.
They do not know that Plame was not a covert CIA agent at the time of the Novak article.
This vital information comes from none other than Joe Wilson himself, Plame's husband. In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on July 14 (the transcript is available at CNN.com), Wilson stated, "My wife was not a clandestine officer the day Bob Novak blew her identity."
In addition, 36 major news organizations (many of which are now demanding Rove's dismissal) filed a legal brief in March stating that no crime had occurred.
These are indisputable facts that should be considered before coming to any premature judgments about Karl Rove.

The Rove issue is already a dead issue. Roberts' nomination has overshadowed Rove. The Prez and his advisors done good on deflecting attention from Rove. Notice how few people have commented on Rove on this blog over the past couple of weeks.
I agree with the comment above, Rove is no longer an issue. This went south very fast after the Roberts' nomination.
