Politically Homeless

This blog is created as a forum for the increasingly large number of voters in Marion County, Florida who consider themselves to be "Politically Homeless". We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by "politics as usual". Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others stay registered with a party only to vote in primaries, but no longer identify with the party's current political direction. We encourage you to post your comments.

Happy Birthday Politically Homeless!

We started the Politically Homeless Blog just one year ago today. For our loyal followers, and those who have recently discovered the PH Blog, the following is a brief reminder of what our Blog is all about (from our very first posting on July 1, 2005):

[Who are the Politically Homeless? We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by what we are seeing as “politics as usual”. Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others choose to stay registered with a certain party just to participate in primary elections, but do not really identify with the party’s current political direction. Herman Cain, in his book “They Think You’re Stupid”, provides an excellent description and discussion concerning our plight as the Politically Homeless. Both major parties are suffering significant defections, and the ranks of Politically Homeless are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with by the Democrats and Republicans. Both parties can no longer afford to ignore us. To do so will be political suicide for them! Each month we will post some important current-issue questions for you to offer your point of view. Occasionally, the “Blog Master” (or a guest Blogger) will offer a feature, thought-provoking opinion on a critical local issue. Open-mindedness and free speech are the only guidelines for your participation. Whether you agree or disagree with what your party is doing concerning the issues we discuss, we encourage you to offer your point of view.]

We have gained quite a few followers and contributors to the PH Blog over the past year. The number of posts and visits to PH is increasing significantly. We look forward to continuing our growth, influence and contribution to the discussion of political issues in Marion County. The upcoming 2006 elections should stimulate quite a bit of PH Blog discussion. It looks like the School Board election is already creating some hot and heavy dialogue! Check out the thread below-“School Board: Golden Opportunity For Dems?”

We are always looking for new ideas/topics and your suggestions for improving the PH Blog. E-mail us at: politicallyhomeless@cox.net or post your ideas anywhere on one of the Blog threads. Also, please spread the word about the PH Blog to your friends. We don’t have an advertising budget, so word of mouth is our best source.

Thanks for blogging with us and your help in continuing to grow our PH blogger population.

So true! The people I know who are far fight and far left are always correct and never want to debate their position.

Appreciate the Blog. We do have a few far right and left bloggers, but most all of them seem to be willing to listen to others.

The Marion County blog beats the heck out of the one in Alachua County. Having lived in both counties, Politically Homeless attracts a lot fewer "wierdos" than the blog in Alachua.

And that, Gator, is because Alachua is full of weirdos. Trouble is many of them are teaching our children and grandchildren God knows what -- except it is not about God!

Speaking as you were about Alachua . . . the difference between the Episcopal Diocese of Florida (should be North Florida) which counts Alachua, and the Diocese of Central Florida which counts Marion, could not be more striking.

The Jax bunch has a bishop heading his dwindling number of Episcopalians who are battling in court for what is theirs -- their church property he is trying to claim -- and is trying to bully his priests into the revisionist philosophy of ECUSA.

Meanwhile the Diocese of Central Florida is headed by an orthodox bishop who still believes in the Trinity, who actually believes what we affirm each Sunday, and who believes and teaches the word of God.

The Diocese of Central Florida is growing, not dwindling; has active parishes who are working for the Lord, and who actually believe what we will affirm again tomorrow.
The Jax guy supports the new presiding bishop who in her first sermopn talked about "Jesus our Mother", and supports the homosexual bishop of New Hampshire, same sex blessings, et cetera.

Bishop Howe and the parishes in the Diocese of Central Florida have unanimously opted to ask for oversight from a bishop who actually beleives what the church has thought for hundreds of years -- the word of God.

Yo, PWF:

Looks like the Episcopal Church mirrors the rest of the country on the gay issue. Me thinks the Central Florida position is better. However, our friends up north tend to disagree. Liberal Alachua and Conservative Marion...ah, does makes living here interesting!

Each time I visit the blog, I usually find some political tid bit that I didn’t know about. Check it out and find it to be so. I guess politics in the county is becoming more than I can keep up with. Thanks to the blog for helping me stay on top of issues. Look forward to the second birthday celebration of Politically Homeless.

I thought the blog had been around longer than a year. I’d bet you a dinner at Sonny’s that given another year or two, politicians won’t be able to ignore it. Some may not be able to already! If the blogmaster ever wants to give it up to someone, just post a note and you’ll have a taker.

I discovered your blog a couple of months ago. It is now a daily part of my web surfing activity. I enjoy the local politics focus it gives.

Marion County is just about the same as the rest of the State in “No Party” voters, 18%.
