Politically Homeless

This blog is created as a forum for the increasingly large number of voters in Marion County, Florida who consider themselves to be "Politically Homeless". We are individuals who are frustrated with political parties and discouraged by "politics as usual". Many of us have no registered party affiliation. Others stay registered with a party only to vote in primaries, but no longer identify with the party's current political direction. We encourage you to post your comments.

New Year’s Resolutions

With the start of a New Year, here is a good question submitted by “Don”:

What would you like to have the Board of County Commissioners adopt as its New Year’s resolution for 2006?

Also(optional), if you would like to share it with your blogger friends:

What is your personal New Year’s resolution?

My resolution is for the board to have more 3-2 and 4-1 votes with Harris on the losing side.

Personally, my resolution is to stop reading the Star Banner, except on Sunday.

I’m going to stop arguing with the political extremists in Marion County.

Jim Payton will be a tough minded chairman and won’t put up with all the crap that Kessellring did.

I’m going to watch or attend more of the Commission meetings.

Thanks for using my question.

The dispute between the county court system and commissioners concerning expanding the court house is settled in a constructive way and doesn’t result in a legal battle.

My resolution for the Board is for them to be more open-minded and listen more to the citizens of our county.

My personal resolution is to quit smoking in 2006. Stopped on January 1—it is difficult.

Be it resolved for 2006 that the chair of the county commission will obtain a cow bell to be rung periodically during meetings to make sure that General Howard has not fallen asleep.

(1) The county commissioners will spend no more money this year than they did in 2005.

(2) I will personally spend no more money this year than I did in 2005.
